Preparation of Trolley for Spinal and Epidural  Anesthesia

First of all you must have sterile spinal set which contain below written instruments.

Stainless perforated Steel Trey

Two stainless steel bowl

One Sponge holder

Ten Gauze Pieces

2 draw sheet and one hole sheet

1 Gown with hand towel

 

 Sterile spinal set                                                                                                            

Skin Prep Solution.

Sterile   Gauze   Pack   (pack of 5 or 10  gauze pieces).

Disposable   Sterile   Spinal    Needle   ( 25G,26G,27G)  as requirement  of anesthetist .

 Two Sterile   syringes  of  5ml.

Inj   Sensorcaine   0.5 heavy.

Disposable   Needle  26G.

Inj  2% Xylocaine   1 vial.

Disposable Gloves  different  sizes.

All life saving drugs should be ready at the time of procedure.

Position of patient:-   One of the  very important step is position of the patient for spinal anesthesia. Two types of position of the patients  are recommended one is lateral position (knee and chest position) in which knee should be flexed towards abdomen and chin should be flexed towards chest of the patient .Patient  should be  calm and relaxed during procedure. And  Second  type of position for this procedure  is sitting position in which patient will be  in sitting  posture and his chin will be flexed towards chest and patient foot should be placed on sitting  stool. We can give pillow in between patient`s arms  which will help for right required position for spinal anesthesia.

For Epidural Anesthesia:-  For  some  long surgical procedure epidural anesthesia is recommended along  with spinal anesthesia then we have to add more disposable items along with above written list of spinal anesthesia requirements.

Disposable Mini Pack Set  16G or 18G as per demand of anesthetist . Which is contain epidural blunt needle , nylon catssheter and LOR Syringe ( Loss of resistant).

Micropore and  Tegadrum   for dress up epidural catheter.

Spinal anesthesia technique in which local anesthetic is placed directly in the intrathecal  space. 

 

An Epidural  injection is  an  injection of medication    into  the space around the spinal code, to provide  temporary  or prolong relief  from pain or inflammation.
